United Nations Global Compact
PHM-CEE, an international NGO, supports the UN Global Compact – an international network of organizations, in support of the UN Global Compact’s 10 universal principles. These principles are based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the International Labour Organization’s Declaration of the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work; and the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development. The membership of the UN Global Compact is made up of corporations, UN agencies, trade unions and nongovernmental organizations.
At PHM-CEE we provide the tools for leadership…for change… for tomorrow and we consider the principles contained in the UN Global Compact to be a natural extension of our goals as a company and an aide in strengthening our commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
Through our support of the UN Global Compact, we are continually learning how the company can strengthen existing or develop new, internal practices and policies.
PHM-CEE is committed to the highest ethical standards in all business transactions and full compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations when conducting operations in all locations around the world. PHM-CEE representatives will be accurate and truthful in representing business transactions to all of our clients whether they are government agencies, private corporations, or individual citizens.
The Ten Principles:
Principle 1: Businesses should support & respect the protection of international proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect f employment and occupation.
PHM-CEE is likewise committed to support and uphold the provision of basic human rights and to eliminate discriminatory practices. We respect and celebrate the inherent dignity of all persons, and seek to enable all employees to do their best work by embracing and valuing the unique combination of talents, experiences and perspectives of each employee.
PHM-CEE fulfills this commitment by:
o Prohibiting all forms of labor in the workplace that are detrimental to the health or safety of children,
o Prohibits forced or compulsory labor for any employees,
o Respecting employees’ rights to engage in free association and to participate in a collective bargaining process should they so choose, and
o Promoting, protecting and helping to ensure the full and equal enjoyment of human rights by all persons, including those with disabilities.
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility;
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
PHM-CEE is committed to proactively address the environmental impacts of our operations and incorporate environmental leadership in all facets of our business.
We fulfill this commitment by:
o Understanding environmental issues and sharing information within the company and with clients
o Striving to reduce the environmental impacts of our services
o Reducing the environmental impact of our day to day office operations
o Instilling environmental responsibility as a corporate value
o Measuring and monitoring our progress for each project
o Encouraging all employees to participate in environmental leadership
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
PHM-CEE understands that ethical behavior by our associates and as a company are vital to the success of our programs and our existence and is committed to working against corruption. We frequently provide training in good governance and ethics to governmental agencies across the globe. As a result, all team members are well informed of the challenges and dangers of extortion, bribery, and corruption.
